After having a discussion with Devyani, we have both decided that a storyboard won't benefit us in our pre-production stage. We feel like a storyboard will restrict our ideas as we would prefer to gather all of our footage we need and then play around with the editing and effects and want our piece to be based more on improvisation and creativity. We appreciate that storyboards are a brilliant tool for a video that perhaps has a storyline or a piece that has a set chronological order however this isn't the same for our piece.
Instead of feeling prepared using a storyboard, instead Devyani and I plan to go to our locations in order to do numerous practice shots, vlogs of our pre-production stages, make up practices and lip syncing practices which will all be uploaded to YouTube and embedded in my blog. We feel these tools will be a lot more beneficial to us as we can physically practice and plan what we want to be in the video rather than drafting a rough drawing of the video as a whole.

Props List
Balloons
We want a selection of gold balloons, as well as some transparent ones that we intend to fill with gold glitter. We’re going to film with the balloons in the studio, some will be filled with helium. The ones that aren’t filled with helium will be laying on the floor for us to walk through/lay in and the ones that are filled with helium will also be filled with glitter and we will pop them in one scene in our music video. The footage can then be edited to either be slowed down or reversed. The reason behind this idea is to represent their relationship being over (the popping) and the gold being released (relating to the good within her and the power she now has without him).
Glitter
Gold glitter will be used in a number of scenes throughout as an on going theme to go with the gold concept of the song. It’ll be in the balloons, be thrown, be blown and be falling between our fingers in a close up shot of our hands. The idea of glitter is to represent the song title.
Paint
We’re planning to have a shot that is a range of close ups of paint being thrown between Devyani and i, we’ll either do this through flicking the paint using a brush or if that isn’t prominent enough we will try and use water balloons in order to make more of an impact, especially if we decide to slow the footage down. This scene in the video reflects the meaning of the song which is the arguments between the singer and her ex-boyfriend by portraying it in a physical way.
Confetti
Similarly to the glitter, the gold confetti will be used to keep the theme of the song. The confetti will be mainly used in the field and the studio, for sprinkling over us or being thrown around. This footage, like the others will be slowed down in order to create more of an impact.
Feathers
The feathers will be dipped in gold and will give a glamorous feeling to the video, in our questionnaire we saw that the majority of people associated gold with money and luxury therefore gold features will be use to convey this feedback. It is also to represent the relationship when it was at its best and as feathers float away it shows the relationship has done this too.
Bath Bomb
We’re interested in filming a bath bomb exploding in water, we want to shoot this from both a high angle looking down on the water and also - if we can find one - we would like to use an underwater camera to capture the moment when the bomb hits the water and explodes. The bath bomb exploding will represent the lyrics of the ‘roof being on fire’ as that would result in the roof collapsing just like the bath bomb does when it hits warm water, it also relates to their relationship which is crumbling.
Fireworks
The fireworks are another relation to the lyrics ‘the roof was on fire’. We’ll shoot this scene in one of our gardens in order to get the perfect shot of the firework exploding, again we may choose to reverse or slo-mo this shot to go with the song itself and also because this is what our audience questionnaire results suggested.

Equipment List
When filming we will need various pieces of equipment to get the shots we want, here is a list of everything we are using:
Camera
We are using the Nikon D3300 to film our music video with. We are using this camera because it is high quality and we have easy access to it because it is our friends. Alternatively we could have used the SLR camera which the media department has, however there are two classes using it, which means that the available time for us to use it would be very limited.
Tripod
We aim to have a large variety of shots in our media, including still shots, medium, medium/close up and long shots. For this we will need to use the tripod to ensure our shots are straight and at the right height. It is especially important for us to use a tripod for our studio and field shots. This is because our field shots will involve a few still long shots to include our location in the shot more. Our studio shots involve lots of action with the use of our props so we want to ensure the focus stays on the action rather than the camera work. Most of these action shots will also be edited heavily so it could look too intense if the camera is moving too.
Background
We are using a black and white double-sided back drop which we are borrowing from the media department at school. We are going to be using this in the drama studio at school, because the studio is completely black which will emphasise the lighting we are using because all natural day light can be easily be blacked out and we will have lots of space to work in .
Lighting
We will use the lighting in the drama studio in order to emphasise our features and any actions we are doing. We also may use a lighting kit which the media department is providing us with. In the field shots and bedroom shots we are going to use natural daylight. This is a risk because our shots may not look exactly how we may have wanted them to look if there is not enough sunlight. However from our practise field shots, we have been able to see realistically how our shots would look in natural daylight, and we are satisfied with the look of them.

Target Audience Description
We feel that our music video for Gold by Kiiara will appeal particularly to a certain audience with the following characteristics.
Age;
Around 14 - 26
This is mainly because the video features my friend and i and we are age 17 and 18 therefore the people that watch the video may feel like they can relate to us more if they're of a similar age. Similarly, the song itself is very upbeat and the kind of song a younger person is more likely to listen to rather than someone older.
Gender;
Mostly females, possibly some males
We feel females will enjoy our piece because of the arty shots we will include and also because the whole piece will include shots of girly things for example nicely done makeup and fashion. We feel that some males will take an interest due to the possible misogynistic shots of my friend and i.
Social Demographic;
B, C2
The main reason for this is because we feel these groups of people are most likely to find out about more alternative songs that aren't mainstream.
Occupation;
Students or the art industry (music, photography, fashion)
We feel students are most likely to hear about songs like this the most as they're likely to be signed up for music apps such as Spotify or Apple Music where they can discover more alternative songs like this. People that work in the art industry will appreciate the different artistic shots.
Hobbies;
Art, Photography, Makeup, Fashion, Performance
Our video is very performance and concept based and includes a range of artistic shots that people that enjoy art and photography should appreciate, the style of the actors in the video should appeal to make up and fashion lovers as the girls will have their makeup done and will be in a fashionable outfit.
Style;
Alternative
The song isn't mainstream so therefore the video will represent the alternative vibe of the song.
Media Grouping;
Films:'500 days of summer', TV:'Made in chelsea', Artists:'Flume', Music: 'Alternative, indie/pop, electropop.
These features of media are likely to be consumed by the people that would enjoy the video as they share similar characteristics of not being mainstream and being in the similar genre etc.
Uses&Gratifications;
Entertain, escape, identify
The video would help entertain as it would be an enjoyable video to consume and would be excited due to the shots and colours used. It would help people escape their everyday life as it won't be completely natural with the mis-en-scene. Finally it would help someone identify their personality as they may realise this genre of music is for them.
Problems&Solutions;
Routine, tiring, dull and environment - doing different activities in the video in different locations, we are doing some exciting things to combat the tiredness our audience may feel, metallic colours, range of locations that are not domestic so they can escape their routine.
